How can I get a time line in years instead of months?

At the moment, I can only view the timeline in months. However, I'm working on projects that span several years. How can I switch to a yearly view?

In the Notion timeline view you have a today at the top left and just at the left of that it says "Month".

Click there and choose the range you want the view to display from that options.

Hi Polie, thanks for your suggestion!

Sadly, it's not quite what I'm looking for. It does shorten the timeline a bit by showing tasks by months, but I still need to scroll through 12 months and aggregate tasks to get a yearly overview. Ideally, I would love to see all tasks grouped by year, without the details of the month they were performed. I guess part of the issue might be that there's no "year" option in the date format.

For showing how the timeline displays, you can't modify that, just use the available options.

You may be able to do by year if you create a date year property and then group by year.

Hi Polie, thanks again! Your help is really appreciated.

You might find this a bit funny, but I'm sort of scratching my head on how to create a year format in the date property. I'm just a regular Notion user without any coding knowledge to fall back on.

There is no year format in the Notion date property, but you can use tags for example and just select the year there.

That way you can group by year.
